Intel joins tech companies in halting Russia operations

BENGALURU: Intel has joined the long list of technology companies to exit Russia. Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, as also big consulting and accounting firms have called it quits in Russia following Western sanctions on the country for invading Ukraine. PCMag had reported that Nvidia is halting all product sales to Russia.
“Intel continues to join the global community in condemning Russia’s war against Ukraine and calling for a swift return to peace. Effective immediately, we have suspended all business operations in Russia,” it said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.
“We are working to support all of our employees through this difficult situation, including our 1,200 employees in Russia. We have also implemented busi- ness continuity measures to minimise disruption to our global operations,” it said.
In March, Intel had said that it has suspended all shipments to customers in Russia and Belarus. Intel has launched an employee donation and matching campaign.
